Vlassides Oroman

Presented at a Cypriot wine tasting in 2023, the Oroman was one of my favorites. The name, in Cypriot, means "vision" or "dream" and the wine is definitely worthy of the name. It has won several gold, silver and bronze medals, depending on the vintage. 

The wine has intense aromas of dark fruit, tobacco, black pepper and vanilla, a full body and a long finish dominated by red fruit and sweet spices.  

It is produced from indigenous Giannoudi grapes in a mix of sandy, clay and silty soil, unfiltered and aged for one year in second- or third-use French oak barrels before it goes on the market. It has an aging potential of at least 10 years.
