Cadão Douro Reserva Red

This is a dry, smooth, fruity Douro wine from Portugal's Douro Valley. Aged half in French, half in American oak barrels, it has a dark ruby colour and aromas of red and black fruit preserves, balsamic touches and hints of toast, vanilla, chocolate and coconut with a long finish. It's made from a typically Douro combination of 40% Touriga Franca, 20% Touriga Nacional and 10% Tinto Roriz grapes. The grapes are hand-harvested and then fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged for three years before bottling. A little lighter than some Douro Valley wines, it goes well with red meat, lentils, aged cheese and other dishes with enough power to match it.
